Carlinville COMPANY WINS MAJOR INTERNATIONAL FOOD INDUSTRY AWARDS

 Results of the 2005 Scovie Awards, one of the top international food competitions -- have just been announced, and Carlinville - based Taylor ’s Mexican Chili Co. is among the winners. With Taylor’s second entree into national competition, Taylor’s Mexican Chili Co. has scored again.

Taylor’s Mexican Chili with Habanero, a very spicy version of the original recipe, received 3^rd place in 2004 in the “cook it up” chili con carne division and 2nd in 2005.  In another category, Taylor’s Mexican Chili with Habanero Chili Cheese Dip rated a 3rd. place, 2005 spot.  Hundreds of products from around the world competed for top honors.  The Scovie Awards, which are presented by Fiery-Foods and BBQ Magazine, along with Sunbelt Shows, producers of the National Fiery Foods & Barbecue Show, were recently announced in Albuquerque, NM.  The awards, named for Wilbur Scoville who pioneered a rating scale for spicy foods, have become the industry standard for excellence in over 60 categories of fiery foods.

Dave DeWitt , long considered the father of the fiery foods industry and producer of the National Fiery Foods & Barbecue Show, noted, “I am proud to see how the Scovie Awards have become the preeminent award for hot and spicy foods.  Our entries come from every corner of the globe, and our winners hail from 39 states and four countries.  This year’s Scovie winners really exemplify the diversity and quality of this industry.  It is not so much about heat as about the wonderful flavors of fiery foods.”
